P.S.S. Shaft Seals Have Logged Up To 40,000 Hours Of Hassle-Free Operation!
High-Density Carbon And High-Density Stainless Steel Components Create A Dripless Mechanical Seal That Provides Years Of Use. The Stationary Carbon Flange Attaches To The Stern Tube With A Nitrile Bellows And Is Held In Contact With The Stainless-Steel Flange That Rotates Along With The Propeller Shaft. The Force Of The Compressed Bellows Presses The Flanges Together, Which Creates A 100% Watertight Seal That Is Virtually Maintenance Free. This System Is Self-Adjusting And It Eliminates The Need For Periodic Adjustment Required By A Conventional Stuffing Box.
The Seal Can Be Used With A Pitted Or Slightly Misaligned Shaft Because It’S Designed To Compensate For Small Flaws. Additionally, It Won’T Melt Or Have A Catastrophic Failure.
P.S.S. Makes Its Seals With Space-Age Carbon Composites, Heavy-Duty Nitrile O-Rings And Bellows And 316 Stainless Steel Rotor And Fasteners. The Durable Seals Are Designed And Manufactured To Resist Extreme Temperatures, Saltwater, Uv Radiation, Petroleum-Based Products And Corrosion. Typical Break-In After Proper Installation Is One Hour. Propeller Shaft And Stern Tube Diameter Are Necessary When Ordering. Sizes Not Listed Are Available By Special Order.
